Amie Whitaker - Studio, Braintree

Me and Amie have been in touch with each other for the past year and a bit about organising a shoot together - unfortunately, we were either never off at the same time or i didn’t think i had the right idea for her. Rolling onto september 2021, we managed to get all of it sorted and actually shoot!

Amie is a dancer and dance teacher - full of confidence and sass. This made our first shoot really fun to be a part of! I said i wanted to get some cool gel portraits of her in a leather jacket and then add glasses/props as we go. Amie, took that on board and then brought along a bag of outfits she thought might be cool too! Amie has the ability to see the shots, work the pose but also she isn’t afraid to elevate the vision with her outfits/look.

Once we had finished shooting our gel set, i asked her to pick her own choice of outfit and she picked a very classy set of purple lingerie. I am not known for shooting this style of photography but with a fellow photographer and friend shooting alongside me and on board with Amies thoughts, i agreed to give this a go. I wanted to keep the shots looking as respectable as possible but also not just be a typical lingerie photo - This is where i wanted to use gels to compliment the purple on show. I put a light purple on the main key light and then a deep yellow on the rim light. I adjusted my white balance slightly and went to work!

I think everyone will agree that Amie looks incredible in any outfits but this lingerie set, i was very proud of for 2 reasons - 1. It’s out of my comfort zone and 2. it still looked like my style and not a typical shot for that outfit.
