Gel lighting - Colchester

Having space to shoot studio images of any kind can be a luxury in most people’s cases. I am no different.

I was invited back to another group night to go over how i would light a subject with gels. This is one of my favourite methods in portraiture, so it was a no brainer to attend.
I brought along a pop up grey background and packed 3 x Godox AD200’s, 2 x collapsible strip boxes and a small collapsible octabox. This was all set up in a 3 point lighting method that i would use for sports and composite work.

A teal gel was applied to the octabox which was my key light and then i attached 2 x orange gels to the strip boxes. Key light was set to 1/16 power with the strip boxes at 1/32 power. This was mainly becase the teal/blue colour was sucking up alot of the light power in comparison to the oranges.

Our model Favour, was on point all through the shoot time with me (about 30 mins) and has a flawless look and a personality that makes shooting such fun!
